Monthly Meetings

  • June 8, 2017

    •     Currently looking for new members to increase Parish Council size and to replace retiring members
    •     Reviewed plans for the Corpus Christi Procession
    •     St. Vincent Feast Day 5K plans are under way
    •     Received update from Haiti regarding the funds we sent; waiting on photos to display outside Vincent Hall
    •     Coordinating a joint meeting with the 150th Committee to share ideas for parish spiritual renewal
    •     Reviewed and updated Parish Council Statutes

  • May 11, 2017

    •     Fr. Matthew contacting candidates for Parish Council to replace retirees
    •     Discussed plans for the Corpus Christi Procession on June 18
    •     Discussed plans for the St. Vincent Feast Day activities: 5K on Sept. 23 and Gold Outing and Neighborhood Picnic on Sept. 24
    •     Funds were sent to Haiti, and Fr. Jolibois has been invited to visit our parish
    •     150th Campaign has raised 90% of our goal in pledges
    •     Roof remodel can begin after all required estimates have been received
  • March 9, 2017

    •     150th campaign has received pledges for 80% of monetary goal. Bishop’s Appeal obligation is met and enough funds are available to begin the roof repair this summer.
    •     Fr. Matthew will ask for spiritual renewal ideas from the parish on forms to be placed in offertory baskets. Goal is to plan events by June to commence in September.
    •     Guest speakers for Lent reviewed as well as expanded hours for confession.
    •     New St. Vincent school mascot is the Guardians.
    •     Prairie Street buildings can be salvaged and repaired for less than tearing down.
    •     Our sister parish in Haiti, St. Bainet, will be our Annual Mission Appeal for 2017. Fr. Matthew will be inviting them to send a guest speaker for our Masses.
    •     Fr. Matthew will oversee efforts to step up parking direction during religious education/Mass overlap on Sundays.
  • February 9, 2017

    •     Guest speaker will give brief testimony at Masses in support of 150th campaign. Parishioners are encouraged to submit pledge cards for prayer support if unable to donate financially.
    •     Plans made to survey parishioners for spiritual renewal ideas
    •     Materials will be posted for “Best Lent Ever” online Lent devotional from Dynamic Catholic.
    •     Jail ministry beginning with a men’s Bible study in cooperation with neighborhood parishes.
    •     Land adjacent to the St. Vincent Cemetery has been donated for cemetery use. The cemetery board is working on a five-year plan to develop the property.
    •     Prairie Street properties are being assessed for cost and viability of rehabilitation project and/or tearing down of the buildings.
  • January 12, 2017

    •     150th Campaign Video will be shown a second time at all weekend Masses due to low attendance for previous showing.
    •     150th Campaign has raised nearly 50% of its monetary goal.
    •     Reviewed this year’s Advent Lessons & Carols with Brad Todorovich, planning to expand program for 2017.
    •     Gathering ideas for spiritual renewal for the parish in conjunction with the 150th Anniversary.
    •     Lenten schedule reviewed.

    •     St. Vincent sent money to Haiti for hurricane relief
    •     Neighborhood cookout was successful; ideas for next year discussed
    •     George Kalil is coordinating assessment of steeple capacity for larger cross
    •     The new carpet in the conference room downstairs already has large stains; will discuss limit on food consumption with Fr. Matthew
    •     Planned to discuss the future of Advent Lessons & Carols with Brad Todorovich.
  • October 13, 2016

    •     Met jointly with the 150th Anniversary Committee to review feedback from parish and diocese on church renovations & improvements.
    •     Voted unanimously to proceed with the project and begin fundraising.
